ORCHESTRA and CHAMBER MUSIC CAMP
GENERAL INFORMATION

The Adramitteion Festival Academy is run by Askinacademia with the support of local stakeholders as an Orchestral Camp. All work will be done at Balikesir University Burhaniye Practice Hotel in Ayvalık-Burhaniye. It will perform orchestral and chamber music concerts at different points of the city that shed light on history.Participants will conduct orchestral rehearsals with experienced conductors, participate in chamber music studies and masterclasses with soloists, take part in a total of 4 orchestras and at least one chamber music concert with world-renowned conductors and artists.

Dates: The Orchestra Camp will start on Sunday, August 13, 2023 with the arrival of the participants in Burhaniye and will end with the departure of the participants after the final concert to be held in the center of Balıkesir on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

Adramytteion: According to some sources, the Gulf of Edremit, which dates back to 1400 BC, took its name from the ancient city of Adramytteion. Adramytteion is one of the important ancient settlements of the Ancient Mysia Region and is included in the works of many ancient writers. Today, many historical sites have been brought to light with archaeological excavations.

Burhaniye General Information: Taylı Baba, who conquered the region by the order of Karesi Bey in 1334 AD, settled where the present Taylıeli village is located, and this is the first settlement of Burhaniye. Burhaniye, which is located on the coast of the Aegean Sea and known as the coastal city, is among the prominent districts of Balıkesir. Known for its natural beauties and historical buildings, the district hosts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. It is known that Burhaniye, which is also popular in terms of holidays, stands out as a calm city. The width of the district, which has a population of approximately 65 thousand, is quite large. A large part of the district is covered with mountainous and forested areas. The fact that the city center is located on the seaside has also increased the transportation services here.

Categories: Adramytteion Festival Academy will accept students in the fields of Violin, Viola and Cello.

Accommodation: Students attending the Festival Academy will be hosted at Balıkesir University Burhaniye Application Hotel. Accommodation is included in the course fee. Address: Ören Mah. Örentepe Mevkii 10700 Burhaniye / Balıkesir

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in the Hotel Restaurant. Three meals are included in the course fee.

External Transportation: There are several flights every day from Istanbul, Ankara to Balikesir Koca Seyit Airport. In addition, there are many travel options by road from Izmir, Istanbul and Ankara. All students will go to Burhaniye at their own expense.

Internal Transportation: Travel in concerts and sightseeing events during the week will be provided by the Academy.

Works to be studied: Parties of chamber music and orchestral works that they will study and play in concerts during the course will be sent to the participants in advance. Students admitted to the academy are responsible for studying their party before the academy.

Faculty: The faculty will consist of 9 teachers. Teachers are named in alphabetical order as Cihat Aşkın(Violin), Rengim Gökmen(Conductor), Oğuzhan Kavruk(Conductor), Ksenia Milas(Violin), Oleksandr Semchuk(Violin), Muhammet Yıldırır(Violin), Ulrich Mertin(Viola), Ulaş Başkaya(Viola) Meehae Ryo(Cello).

Active students: Each active student participating in the Festival Academy will take part in 4 orchestral and at least one chamber music concert during the academy. Masterclasses will be open to all active and passive participants and some activities for touristic and recreational purposes will be added in to the program. The fee for active students is 600€.

Passive students: Orchestral rehearsals and chamber music studies will also be open to passive participants. Passive participants will be able to listen to all concerts and other educational activities, ask questions, and be involved in any activity that does not fall within the field of professional practice. Meals and accommodation fees of passive students belong to themselves. Passive participation fee is 200€.

Pre-Registration: Participation in the summer academy is limited to a certain quota. Within this framework, the participant must pre-register. In the pre-registration stage, each participant is required to send a you tube performance video link to the academy secretariat. With this video, the front-back photocopy of the identity card and the signed consent of the parent if he/she is under 18 years old should also be sent. The deadline for pre-registration is 21 July 2023. The fee of €50 will be charged for pre-registration.

Admission: Pre-registered applicants will have their final registration between 23 and 31 July. Final registration will also be available for candidates who have not pre-registered. However, there will be no quota priority for those who does not have pre-registration. Prre-registration fee is not refundalble. The list of participants for the course will be announced on 1 August 2023. Participants admitted to the course with final registration will receive a course ID card via QR code (a digital corporate identity card). Promotional activities: There will be promotional activities of Adramytteion Festival Academy on social media and press channels. Each student who has accepted or applied to join the Academy agrees to participate in the promotional acitivites.
